Found this mature male wolf spider frantically trying to find a girl in broad daylight. He lost a leg but otherwise seemed to be unharmed. I shot some pics then released him in the compost heap to resume his futile wanderings.
I was sticking my finger in there to try to get him to turn around and not once did he gesture or strike. I think wolf spiders (and spiders in general) really get a bad reputation because of people's ignorance. I also love the open valve where his leg was. I've never gotten that close a look before. I knew they worked on hydraulics, but fascinating.
Aww I know what you mean! They are truly given a bad reputation. Its like so many other creatures. One that comes to mind is sharks. Oh they bit someone swimming in THEIR home! Imagine that Humans always think they are the most important species The valve area was indeed interesting! Cant help but think of the mechanical spider on that goofy western movie that Will Smith was in- "Wild Wild West"

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
